Lindström expands service in China with new facility in Jiaxing

Jiaxing plant is the fourth new service centre opened by Lindström in China this year. It follows the openings of the service centre in Wuhan, pharmaceutical cleanroom in Guangzhou and electronics cleanroom in Tianjin. The facility serves more than 200 customers. It is expected to reach a capacity of 1 million pieces of garments washed every month.

The establishment of this service centre will further improve Lindström’s service network in the Yangtze River Delta region. We can provide one-stop workwear services to more customers. Anupam Chakrabarty, the Senior Vice President stated: “We first came to China with our workwear rental services in 2006. We are extremely happy with how our business has developed over the last two decades. Consistently we have managed to grow the business and help our customers become more sustainable. We do it by becoming a part of the circular economy.”

The opening event of the new plant was on 7th December. The facility continues Lindström’s long-standing, sustainable development through efficient resource usage, textile recycling and greenhouse gas reductions. Chakrabarty acknowledged the pivotal role played by Jiaxing authorities in fostering sustainability: “One of the key reasons why we chose Jiaxing for this new investment is the clear focus of the authorities in this market on creating a more sustainable ecosystem.”

Striving for sustainable development

In her speech, Anu Vuori, Consul General of Finland in Shanghai, comments: “Finnish companies – like Lindström – are committing strongly to sustainable development. They innovate and implement new solutions and methods needed for carbon reduction and sustainability. I am sure that the successful and sustainable innovations of companies like Lindström are also useful for China. Especially considering that it strives for its ambitious carbon neutrality goals.”

Dennis Chan, the Managing Director of Lindström China, introduced a sample garment made from 60% recycled material produced from our textile waste. It showcases our dedication to circular economy principles: “We recycle garments at the end of their life cycle properly and transparently. Current year, we recycle about 80% of our textile waste. We are actively studying ways to utilise the textile waste in the reproduction of yarn and fabric. We look to return it to our supply chain. It is an excellent example of circular economy instead of just waste reduction.”

Jiaxing is home to many major international and local companies. The city advocates low-carbon and green development, and government support policies promote sustainable development. Lindström’s Jiaxing plant aligns well with the region’s goals and initiatives.
