Threads reshaped for a net-zero future

Imagine a future where textiles are born from recycled and biobased materials, replacing the old ways. Manufactured closer to users by partners dedicated to cutting emissions. Visualize a world where the life cycle of our textiles, from maintenance to washing, runs on clean, renewable energy and transportation is powered by electric and hydrogen technologies. This is not just a vision for the distant future. In less than a decade we aim to make it our reality.

Weaving a net-zero future

Decisions for a better tomorrow

Guided by our purpose we have made a commitment that will guide our decisions for the next decades. We aim to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions every year and halve our greenhouse emissions by 2030 from the year 2021 level and reach net zero by 2050 across our value chain. Our targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative to ensure that they are aligned with the latest climate science.

The way forward

The journey to net-zero has started

We have calculated our greenhouse gas emissions and identified that textiles, energy & electricity and customer deliveries cover almost 70% of our emissions. We have also identified the actions that help us reduce those emissions. Those impact on which material, where and how our textiles are produced. Our service centers explore ways to improve energy efficiency and waste heat utilisation as well as to switch to renewable energy and electricity sources. And we are also exploring more sustainable alternatives for customer deliveries.
