Kasimir Palmula turns insights into impact as Data Analyst Trainee
Kasimir Palmula began his rewarding trainee period in Lindström’s Data & Analytics team at the Helsinki office in the spring of 2023. Since then, he has taken part in various tasks such as reporting, data communication, and visualisation.
In Kasimir’s role, it is essential to ensure that data reaches the right hands in the correct form and at the right time. Alongside his trainee period, Kasimir has been pursuing his master’s studies, applying what he has learned to practical work. He particularly appreciates Lindström’s flexibility in balancing studies and work; if there was a lot going on at school, he could switch to part-time work instead of full-time, which he feels great gratitude about.
Kasimir had a background in data analyst roles, so when the trainee position opened up, it was a natural choice to apply to Lindström. Adapting to a new role always takes time, but Kasimir praises the excellent onboarding process that helped him understand the source systems and data flows, making it easier to grasp the content of his new role.
Teamwork towards victory
Kasimir works in a team of 8 people, where each member focuses on different areas of data, enabling effective collaboration and support for each other’s work. He has noticed the vast untapped potential at Lindström and how data could be utilized in many new ways to enhance business efficiency. “The role of data in business has become incredibly important,” Kasimir remarks enthusiastically. “It’s amazing to be part of a company where you can truly influence how data is leveraged for various purposes.”
Kasimir has especially enjoyed working with Product Owners, from whom he has gained valuable insights across many areas. His colleagues have been fantastic; help is easily available, often even before he asks. Lindström offers numerous opportunities for professional growth, whether through internal training or new tasks. With new work requests coming from stakeholders, Kasimir has learned to better understand the business and has received tips from the IT team on how to optimise data calculations for new applications.
Good spirit and approachable people
Kasimir was initially surprised by how extensive and international Lindström is, and how many areas of business the textile industry can cover. Lindström offers a wide range of services – from workwear to mats and washroom services. This has given Kasimir a comprehensive overview of the textile service industry. Projects always start with identifying a need, after which the Product Owner reviews the need and assigns the task to Kasimir. “It’s incredible to receive positive feedback when my work meets a need and makes someone else’s job easier,” Kasimir rejoices.
Kasimir has also been impressed by how advanced Lindström is in many ways, especially in the area of circular economy, where they strive to repair, reuse, and operate in an environmentally responsible manner. The company’s communal spirit is truly impressive. “There is always a warm and open atmosphere in the office, and you can ask anyone for help at any time,” Kasimir shares. Even when things don’t go according to plan, Lindström approaches every situation with a positive “We can do it” attitude.
Leadership that cares
Kasimir praises Lindström’s management for its positive and attentive approach to employee development. “One-to-one meetings are incredibly important as they help in personal growth and improving skills at the workplace,” he points out. The role of data in business is crucial, and Kasimir is excited about how many processes can be improved and optimised with data. Reflecting on his trainee period, Kasimir is satisfied with how much he has learned and how well Lindström has supported him throughout this journey. Kasimir looks forward to the future opportunities that Lindström will offer.
