In conversation with Margarita Georgieva

13 years with Lindström – and counting

This is the story of Margarita Georgieva, who has been working for Lindström for over a decade. Georgieva holds a Master of Science degree in textile sciences and engineering. She has always been interested in the textile industry.

“Lindström is a journey and a place for those who would like to challenge themselves in different directions and like a dynamic work environment. A person has a lot of things to learn but also the freedom to work independently via mentoring or coaching. The company allows one to reach new heights and offers teammates who are open-minded.

“The reason I joined Lindström 13 years ago was because I liked the values of the company.”

Margarita Georgieva has helped Lindström Bulgaria grow for decades.

In 2010, when Lindström was only starting out in Bulgaria, Georgieva joined the new team as a customer service representative. As the team was small, Georgieva got to work on diverse projects and positions. She was doing everything from working in supply chain to customer service to handling invoices, dealing with delivery companies, and acquiring knowledge from other companies in the region.

“When the business is new, the headcount is small. I had to do a lot of different types of tasks.”

“In 2011, it was very challenging because we had to localise everything before opening the laundry operations as well as find different partners and suppliers. Simultaneously, we were growing the mat service business by acquiring three local competitors. My additional role was to share know-how with the professionals in customer service and delivery coming from outside. I drew them into the Lindström culture and successfully onboarded over 1300 new clients while assuring long-term retention.”

New opportunities help you grow

From the start, Margarita has been given different and challenging tasks, not only in her native Bulgaria but also abroad. She feels that challenges give her energy. Meeting new people from different countries also creates a dynamic atmosphere. Margarita states that she has also learnt a lot also about herself during her career in the company. All this has been possible with the support of her team and her own supervisor, the managing director of Lindström Bulgaria.

“I was young and ambitious and wanted to experience how to build a business from scratch.  I wanted to contribute with my knowledge.”

For instance, back in 2016, Georgieva was driving the use of digital marketing to Lindström countries across Europe. The latest turn was when she returned from her maternity leave just before the pandemic hit in 2020. Then she took on an additional role in customer service on top of her role in digital marketing.

“I found a nice and challenging relationship between customer service and digitalisation and digital marketing.”

Georgieva especially enjoys working in digital marketing because it has a lot of new things for her to learn from. She enjoys putting her focus and energy into new projects where she can develop her skills further. The dual role in the company splits her focus in two. She expects her team to work independently as much as possible but is always there to help when needed.

“I try to motivate them, and my dream is to see these people grow in their professional journey.”

Margarita has numerical things to be proud of

Every year, Lindström recognises employees that have been excelling in their work. In 2022, Margarita Georgieva was named one of the winners of the President’s Circle, the annual internal sales competition. Once again, she was a pioneer – as this was the first time people from customer service and digital marketing were able to participate in the competition. With her vast knowledge of Lindström and our customers, she has been doing an amazing job as a digital marketer. This earned her the prize for great achievements in 2022.

In addition, Georgieva has been a crucial member of the team that has helped Lindström Bulgaria garner several great awards, ensuring that the company is gaining recognition externally as well.

Things that Margarita would tell people who want to join Lindström

“We need new people who see the world differently to keep developing our services.”

Margarita Georgieva would love to see more young people joining Lindström. They bring a lot of new perspectives to a company that has been around for a long time. Sharing and combining the knowledge of different generations is an opportunity.

“Lindström is a journey and a place for those who would like to challenge themselves in different directions and like a dynamic work environment. A person has a lot of things to learn but also the freedom to work independently via mentoring or coaching. The company allows one to reach new heights and offers teammates who are open-minded. It is a traditional family-owned company and differs from startups but offers stability and things a start-up might not.”
