Lindström South Korea expands into larger workwear service unit

Lindström is expanding its business in South Korea by opening a new unit in Pyeongtaek and doubling its production capacity. Specifically built to cater to Lindström’s growing customer base in the country, the new service center spans over 2000 square meters and will provide and maintain workwear for customers in multiple industries including pharmaceuticals, food processing & electronics. The expansion is expected to provide employment opportunities for 50 new professionals.

Juha Laurio, President & CEO of Lindström Group, emphasises the importance of the Korean market for Lindström. “In Korea, we have had the pleasure of working with many successful and forward-looking companies who value sustainability and recognize the importance of responsible business practices. I believe that one of the factors why Korea is such a successful country is that Korean business leaders are eager to adapt new business models and ways of working. We are proud to say that our services have been welcomed by these companies, and besides making our customer’s life easier, we are committed to supporting their sustainability goals.”

Lindström opened its office in Korea in 2015 and offers end-to-end workwear solutions, providing appropriate workwear as per the requirements of the company and ensuring that employees always have enough clean workwear available. More than 10,000 people in 150 companies wear the company’s workwear on a daily basis across the country.

Shokmin Oh, Business Unit Manager and Head of the Country, described the launch of the new business unit in Korea as a significant milestone: ” The new facility doubles our production capacity and positions ourselves to meet the growing demands of the Korean market. With the expansion to the new factory, we can now service up to 100,000 pieces of workwear per month. The facility is designed to guarantee the safety and quality of the service. In terms of hygiene management, regular inspections are conducted according to the European textile standards to ensure the quality of our service.”

Congratulating on the opening of the new unit in Pyeongtaek, Finland’s Ambassador to Korea Pekka Metso stated: “It’s surprising that the history of the Lindström Group, now 175 years old, is longer than the history of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Finland in 1973.” He added that the trade relations between Korea and Finland have seen an increase in recent times and with Lindström expanding business in Korea further improves trade relations.

Manas Kumar, Global Director Pharma and Strategic Marketing and Business Development Director Asia highlights the demand for compliant and sustainable solution: “There is a rising need for reliable and compliant workwear services that meet the stringent requirements of various sectors, including pharma, bio -pharma, semiconductor, food processing, and many others. We are eager to contribute to the growth and success of the Korean industries”.
