Lindström’s Juha Laurio signs the CEO Statement for net-zero future

The CEOs of Nordic companies are coming together to voice their commitment to the United Nations Global Compact’s Ten Principles and the Sustainable Development Goals of the Paris Agreement. By reaffirming our commitment, we are together enabling the green business transformation and calling for Nordic regulators and policymakers to support our efforts.

“We are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions every year and halve our greenhouse emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050 across our value chain. Our targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and we work every day to ensure sustainable textile services for our customers. We, Lindströmers, are – and have been – committed to the Sustainable Development Goals, and I am proud to reannounce this commitment to the world,” comments Juha Laurio, CEO of Lindström Group.

The UN Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, and to act in support of UN goals and issues embodied in the Sustainable Development Goals. Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, gathering almost 20.000 corporations and organizations from more than 160 countries.

The change will not happen without strong partnerships and coalitions. It’s a collective effort. We are inviting, both public and private, companie and goverments worldwide to join us in promoting green energy, boosting green fuels, and setting clear timelines to phase out fossil fuels.

In addition, Lindström is among the pioneers in the textile industry, whose targets for greenhouse gas reduction and net-zero emissions have been approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative. The global community has committed to Paris Agreement and limiting global warming to 1.5 °C to avoid catastrophic climate change. The SBTi assists companies in setting and attaining ambitious emission reduction targets based on the latest climate science.
