Certified HiVis gear protects you in every condition
Choosing the right high-visibility (HiVis) workwear isn’t just about compliance: it’s about ensuring safety, comfort, and sustainability in every shift.
In this article, Soile Pakarinen, Workwear Designer and Katriina Walliander, Project Manager share how Lindström’s HiVis collections (HiVisPro Stretch and HiVis Winter Laminated) are designed to meet strict standards, adapt to varying weather conditions, and reflect the expertise of the people behind the products.
Keeping you visible both day and night
Visibility is critical in fast-paced environments like warehouses, ports, and logistics hubs. Our HiVis clothing ensures workers are easily noticed, whether under bright daylight or artificial lighting in darker conditions. Reflective elements and bright colours, such as yellow and orange, are strategically placed to maximise safety.
All garments in our HiVis collections are EN ISO 20471 High-Visibility Clothing certified. This European standard sets strict requirements for visibility, specifying the amount of fluorescent fabric and the placement of reflective materials. Compliance with these guidelines means you can trust that our workwear offers reliable protection in every situation.
Comfort through every season
Work doesn’t stop when the weather changes and neither should comfort. That’s why our HiVis collections are designed with versatility in mind, helping workers stay comfortable in varying temperatures and conditions.
Summer collection
For warm and physically demanding environments, we use lightweight, breathable stretch materials. These fabrics allow moisture to evaporate, keeping the wearer cool and dry—even during intense shifts.
Winter collection
When temperatures drop, staying warm and dry is essential. Our winter workwear is made from weather-resistant fabrics that shield against wind and rain—perfect for outdoor work or cold-storage facilities. Though the seams aren’t taped, extensive field testing in real working conditions, including ports, ensures dependable performance.

Sustainability is central to our design choices. The insulation and lining fabrics in the winter products are made from 100% recycled polyester, produced from used recycled bottles. This contributes to reducing the carbon footprint of our products.
Compliant and certified for your safety
In the garment design, we also make sure our products meet strict certification standards. To ensure compliance, we work with independent certification experts like SGS, verifying that our products meet all necessary regulations. In Europe, the EN ISO 20471 High-Visibility Clothing standard is the most common for protective clothing. It sets precise requirements for visibility, including the correct placement and surface area of fluorescent fabrics and reflective elements.
For the EN 342 Cold Protection Clothing certification, winter products are tested in laboratory conditions simulating extreme cold. These tests measure the thermal resistance and insulation properties of the garments.
Once the tests are completed and the products meet the required standards, they are officially certified. Compliance certification serves as proof that the product meets the required safety and quality standards and can be brought to market.
Our HiVis workwear is the result of multiple professionals’ expertise
Good workwear design doesn’t happen by chance, but is a result of teamwork, expertise, and listening to user feedback. We can balance comfort, functionality, and durability by bringing together product specialists, pattern makers, production technicians, and both test and end users.
When developing our latest collections, we brought together teams working on both basic and customer-specific collections along with sales teams specialising in the target industries. This closer collaboration meant faster feedback, clearer communication, and products that truly meet customer needs.

Balancing safety requirements with thoughtful design
From an aesthetic perspective, safety certifications often set strict guidelines that shape the final design. In HiVis clothing, the required amount of visible surface area must also be present in the smallest garment size. This can influence the design of the garment. For instance, we may need to widen trouser legs to meet the surface area requirements. Similarly, the placement of reflectors and coloured areas has very little flexibility, which partly determines the placement of many other elements. While these guidelines limit design flexibility, they ensure maximum visibility and safety for the wearer—without compromising comfort.
Built for safety, designed for life
At Lindström, we believe workwear should do more than meet safety standards—it should support the people wearing it every day. Our HiVis collections are thoughtfully designed to keep you visible, comfortable, and protected—while also reducing environmental impact.
When you choose Lindström, you’re choosing workwear that works for you.

I’ve always been fascinated by how much protection a wearable garment can provide for a person. This interest has played a big role throughout my career. I’ve worked with motorcycle clothing, flotation garments, and bulletproof vests, as well as workwear and protective clothing.
The hazardous tasks and challenging conditions that demand protective clothing inspire humility in me. Protecting people at work is my motivation.
