The Challenges of Workwear Laundry and Industrial Wiper Cleaner

Maintaining industrial workwear and wipers is more complex than it seems. It’s not just about looking clean; it’s about:

Hygiene

Hygiene

Eliminating bacteria and other pathogens to protect your employees, customers, and products

Safety

Safety

Ensuring workwear meets the highest hygiene standards is essential for employee health and safety. Hygienic workwear is especially important in industries handling sensitive materials, such as pharmaceutical cleanrooms, or food production.

Compliance

Compliance

Many industries have strict regulations regarding workwear laundry and maintenance. Noncompliance can lead to fines and reputational damage.

Efficiency and Cost

Efficiency and Cost

Managing laundry in-house can be time-consuming and expensive, requiring investment in equipment, supplies, and labour.

Environmental Impact

Environmental Impact

Traditional laundry practices can be resource intensive. Water and energy consumption, along with the use of harsh chemicals, can negatively impact the environment.

Hi-Vis Laundry Process
Collection
Hi-vis garments are collected from site lockers on a schedule set to your usage. The interval matters: fluorescent fabric left heavily soiled loses brightness faster than fabric washed promptly.
Colour Sorting
Fluorescent yellow and orange garments are sorted away from dark and greasy workwear to prevent dye transfer and greying. Each hi-vis garment is scanned and its retro-reflective tape checked, as that fails first.
Colour-Safe Washing
Temperatures and chemistry are chosen to protect fluorescent dye and tape adhesion. Optical brighteners and chlorine bleach are avoided and cycles kept to what lifts the soil.
Gentle Drying
High drying temperatures make tape lift and crack, so hi-vis garments are dried at controlled temperatures and finished with minimal pressing and no direct heat on the tape.
Visibility Check
Background colour, tape condition, seams and closures are assessed against EN ISO 20471. A garment faded below its issued class is withdrawn to keep your hi-vis workwear compliant.
Delivery
Clean garments are scanned out and returned to site or individual lockers, hygienic and ready to wear.

A Circular Service That Keeps Hi-Vis Visible

Fluorescent fabric fades and reflective tape wears, often gradually enough that nobody on site notices until an audit does. With a rental service, faded garments are picked up at inspection and replaced as part of the service, to help ensure hi-vis garments continue to meet the required standard.

The environmental logic follows the same path as the safety logic. Garments are kept in service for as long as they meet the standard, retired the moment they do not, and recovered rather than binned.

Hi-Vis Range by Class and Role
Jackets, trousers, overalls and t-shirts across EN ISO 20471 classes, in yellow and orange, with combined hi-vis and FR or antistatic options when a site needs more than one function in a single garment.
service-icon
Colour-Safe Laundering
Programmes designed to protect fluorescent dye and retro-reflective tape, with garments sorted away from dark and greasy workwear that would grey them.
service-icon
Repair or Replace
Faded or damaged hi-vis garments are taken out of circulation and replaced from stock as part of the service, with repairs to seams and closures made as standard.
service-icon
Recovery at End of Life
Sustainability is built into the service, so hi-vis workwear that reaches the end of its working life is recycled or disposed of responsibly rather than binned.

Why Rent Hi-Vis Workwear from Lindström?

Hi-vis workwear needs to stay high visibility. A rental service means every garment is inspected on every cycle by a laundry whose job is to check it, to help maintain compliance.

Lindström has more than 175 years in the textile industry, and today we supply hi-vis to logistics yards, manufacturing sites, print and packaging plants and vehicle workshops where it is worn every day.

Here is what sets the service apart.

add

Knowing Which Jacket Is Which

Every hi-vis garment carries an RFID tag, so we know how many times each one has been washed and when it was last inspected. eLindström turns that into something you can use: real-time delivery tracking, ordering of extra garments or sizes when headcount changes, service request tracking, audit reports, multi-site and wearer management, and circulation data that shows whether you have the right number of garments in the pool.

New starters, size changes and replacements are handled within the service, so there is no hi-vis stock to buy, store or reorder, and no gap between a garment being withdrawn and its replacement arriving.

add

Cleaner Fabric, Less Water

Sustainability is at the core of our rental service, from keeping hi-vis garments in circulation for longer through professional care and repair to lowering resource use across our laundry operations; find out more about our environmental targets, progress and initiatives in the Lindström Sustainability Report.
