From the Road to Responsibility: Aaron Goode’s Lindström Story
Rise to Transport Manager
Aaron Goode’s Lindström story began long before the Lindström name was on the depot doors. In September 2003, he joined BTS as a van driver, looking for a fresh start and a role he could truly commit to. Early on, he found something that made the difference: leaders who backed him, trained him and trusted him with responsibility when it counted.
Building confidence through training
As the job grew, so did Aaron’s capability. One of the key stepping stones was gaining his ADR licence, which allowed him to carry larger quantities of hazardous goods safely and compliantly. It was specialist training, and it opened up new possibilities in a role that carries real responsibility, especially on the wiper side of the business.
Not long after, Aaron progressed again, completing his HGV qualification. It gave him broader operational experience and a deeper understanding of what drivers face day to day, from route realities to hours management. That practical grounding would later become a major strength when he moved into leadership.

A step into leadership during change
When BTS became part of Lindström in January 2021, the transition also created an opportunity. Aaron stepped into depot leadership at Nailsworth, moving from life on the road into coordinating people, performance and service delivery. After more than a decade driving, it was a natural next step and a chance to keep progressing without losing touch with the operational detail he knew so well.
Taking ownership when it mattered most
In March 2024, Aaron moved into the Transport Manager role covering Nailsworth and Northampton, after serious licence-related challenges needed urgent attention. With Lindström support behind him, he took the exam, worked through audits, rebuilt compliance and helped stabilise a situation that could have heavily disrupted operations. He credits strong support from colleagues, and a clear team split of responsibilities across regions.
The role is detailed and demanding: monitoring drivers’ hours, keeping service agreements in place, maintaining operator licence requirements and coaching teams so standards stay consistent. Aaron’s approach is grounded and practical. He knows how easy it is for drivers to pick up infringements, so he focuses on education, clarity and keeping people onside.
How he leads
Stepping from “one of the drivers” into management came with a learning curve. Aaron is open about the challenge of balancing approachability with authority, and he is still learning the wider parts of leadership, from HR to legal responsibilities. What matters to him is respect, experience and loyalty, because those are the things that keep teams strong over time.
“My big thing is time served as well. I think time served should count for a lot in this job. You’ve got the experience, you’ve got the knowledge, yes, and loyalty to the job.”
Life outside the depot
Outside work, Aaron is all-in on sport. Golf, cricket, football, rugby and more. He even took on boxing for a period and achieved a major fitness goal through the discipline it demanded. That same drive shows up in how he approaches learning and progression at Lindström today.
In Summary
Aaron’s journey shows what can happen when commitment meets real development support. From early training and licences, to depot leadership, to stepping into transport compliance under pressure, he has built a career by saying yes to learning and taking responsibility for improvement. If you want a workplace where you can grow steadily, get the training you need, and build long-term opportunities with supportive people around you, Lindström is the kind of place where that path is genuinely possible.
