The Stellantis plant in Luton has expanded its manufacturing portfolio with the start of production of the FIAT Professional Scudo light commercial vehicle. This production supports the strong demand and high order banks for the FIAT Professional Scudo further to its launch.

It is the first time that FIAT vehicles have ever been manufactured in the UK. The vehicles will be produced here in both right-hand and left-hand drive for the UK and European markets. The FIAT Professional Scudo will continue to also be produced in Hordain, France where the battery electric e-Scudo version is manufactured for all markets.

Luton continues to build the internal combustion derivatives of the Vauxhall Vivaro, Opel Vivaro, Citroën Jumpy, Citroën Dispatch, and Peugeot Expert LCVs.

Diesel Scudos are offered at 100hp and 120hp with a 1.5-litre MultiJet engine, or 145hp and 180hp if you opt for a 2.0-litre motor. The three lower outputs come with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the 145hp can also be optioned with an automatic transmission. The auto is standard with the range-topping 180hp engine. For the E-Scudo, there is a choice of 50kWh and 75kWh batteries, both of which drive through a 136hp (100kW) electric motor.

Initially, Fiat Professional will offer the vans in three trim lines, though this may change as the vans become established and the company better understands UK customer demand. SX specification includes a DAB radio with Bluetooth, a multi-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar and armrest, electric windows and heated door mirrors, 16” steel wheels, twin sliding side doors, and unglazed rear doors.

The company currently has around 62 dealers across the UK, with more than 150 after-sales points. Of that number, around 65% are also heavy truck dealers, selling Iveco and DAF Trucks models.

Mark Noble, plant director at Stellantis Luton, said: “It’s great news for Luton Plant to start manufacturing the FIAT Professional Scudo, this means we now produce all of the Stellantis brands mid-sized light commercial vehicles, for both the UK and the European markets.”
