Helping to clean up Bradford as part of local community initiative

A practical response to local litter around our Bradford Laundry and nearby main road

Litter can easily become part of the everyday background, especially around busy roads, verges and public spaces. But when waste is left to build up, it affects how an area looks and feels. It can create a poor impression for employees, customers and visitors, while also contributing to a wider sense that shared spaces are not being properly looked after.

For businesses, that matters. The area around a workplace is part of the environment people experience every day. It shapes first impressions, affects the appearance of the site and reflects the condition of the wider local community.

That is why Lindström UK took part in the Big Bradford Clean Up on Friday 27 March.

As part of the initiative, 11 Lindström UK volunteers helped clear litter from the area around our Bradford laundry and the nearby main road. The team focused on spaces where waste had built up and where a visible improvement could be made in a short period of time.

Together, they collected more than 35kg of rubbish.

That figure highlights the scale of the issue. In a relatively small area, and within a limited amount of time, our volunteers removed a significant amount of waste from the local environment. It is a clear reminder that litter is not a minor problem when it is left unaddressed, and that organised local action can make a measurable difference.

Turning local action into visible results

The clean-up was also a practical way to turn good intentions into action.

This event had added significance for Lindström as we celebrate 25 years in the UK. Reaching that milestone is not only a chance to reflect on our journey as a business, but also to recognise our place in the local community and the importance of supporting the areas where we work.

By focusing on the area around our Bradford site, the team helped create a cleaner and more welcoming environment for everyone who works in, visits or passes through the area. The difference was immediate and visible.

For Lindström, it was a meaningful way to support the local community while putting our sustainability values into action in a practical, visible and local way.
