Leading the Charge: Lindström India Determined to Cut GHG Emissions

As the importance of sustainability grows, businesses that take on environmental concerns not only help to preserve the environment but also make a name for themselves as industry leaders. Lindström India serves as an example of this, having committed to halving its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030.

A Sci-Fi Vision with Real-World Impact

Lindström India, part of the global textile servicing giant Lindström Oy of Finland, has carved its place among corporations marching towards the global science-based climate target. And this isn’t a trend they’re merely riding; they’re in this for the long haul. The ambitious goal is to shave off 90% of the Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 2050.

The Lindström Commitment

This committed trailblazer plans to halve its Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030 from the baseline set in 2021. However, their vision doesn’t rest here; it’s riveted on the horizon. By 2050, Lindström aims to slash a steep 90% of its GHG emissions. This audacious goal places them among just 390 global corporations with approved net-zero targets.

A Symphony of Targets and Pathways

Embracing a climate science perspective allows companies to align their strategies with the global commitment to curtail global warming at 1.5 °C. The Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) is an ally in this fight, helping enterprises set and achieve ambitious emission reduction targets based on cutting-edge climate science.

Companies adopting science-based goals saw a rise of 127% in Asia in 2022, bolstering the proactive efforts of Lindström India. As Jayant Roy, Managing Director of Lindström India, notes, the company is equally committed to reducing global GHG emissions and fostering a sustainable environment.

Transparency & Progress

What makes the Lindström approach special is the recognition of this effort as a collaborative one. By following validated targets, they offer their customers credibility and transparency: a clear report card on the march towards a greener future. This, in turn, empowers their customers to take steps towards meeting their sustainability goals.

The Value Chain of the Future

By 2030, Lindström aims to achieve a 50% reduction of GHG emissions across their value chain, a commendable goal leading up to their ultimate objective of net-zero emissions by 2050. The spirit behind these goals is echoed by Manas Kumar, Global Director and Head of Pharma at Lindström, who envisions this as a strategic move to support customers and contribute to a more sustainable future for all.

Leading the Way in India

Having provided workwear services to nearly all industry sectors for the past 16 years, Lindström India also boasts India’s first Cleanroom laundry services in Pune. This is a testament to the company’s commitment to sustainability and cutting-edge solutions.

A Path to Renewal

Lindström India serves as a vivid illustration of a company that’s both driving progress and embodying it. In a world grappling with climate change, say, sustainability and corporate responsibility are no longer choices but imperatives. Companies like Lindström India not only accept this, but they also lead the way, encouraging us all to rethink what it truly means to do business.
