As energy acquisitions form one of the group\u2019s\u00a0main purchasing items, energy efficiency has a direct\u00a0impact on the profitability and pricing of the service.\u00a0Energy efficiency allows to curb upward pressure on prices resulting from rising energy costs.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lindstromgroup.com\/uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lindstr\u00f6m<\/a>\u2019s total production has grown steadily,\u00a0while energy consumption per maintained kilo of waste\u00a0was reduced. By 2020, the company aims to cut down its\u00a0energy consumption by six per cent.\u00a0The energy efficiency goal can be achieved through\u00a0planned measures, in the next few years concentrating on\u00a0the energy efficiency of real estate and heat recovery in the\u00a0wash process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Advancements in heat recovery both from wash water\u00a0and exhaust air of dryers have had a significant impact\u00a0on the company\u2019s energy efficiency. In 2015, new heat\u00a0recovery systems were installed in Estonia, Finland and\u00a0Slovenia, and existing equipment was updated in Finland.\u00a0As the instalments and updates were carried out in the\u00a0latter half of 2015, the annual energy saving rate has not\u00a0been measured yet. However, the efficiency coefficient\u00a0of heat recovery systems is 15-25 per cent, and repairs\u00a0to existing systems are expected to achieve savings of\u00a0approximately 10 per cent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The energy efficiency of real estate has been examined\u00a0through energy analyses. Fine-tuning the ventilation,\u00a0heating and air conditioning of properties as well as\u00a0adopting best practices have resulted in as much as 12\u00a0per cent in savings without extra investments. The energy\u00a0analysis also pays attention to the energy efficiency of\u00a0each facility.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Energy reviews are conducted in accordance with EU\u00a0legislation. Lindstr\u00f6m applies the Finnish Energy Efficiency\u00a0Act in all of its operations, and in 2015, the Group\u2019s parent\u00a0company in Finland satisfied the legal requirements.\u00a0In 2015, the energy review was carried out in the entire\u00a0parent company, while unit-specific reviews that cover 10\u00a0per cent of energy consumption were carried out in Lindstr\u00f6m\u2019s\u00a0Oulu unit and Comforta units in Tampere.
