Marski’s style reflects a modern Finnish spirit and “Finnfullness”
The completely redesigned Marski by Scandic opened its doors at the beginning of June 2019. The interior decoration of the redesigned lifestyle hotel has been inspired by Finnish nature and Helsinki. In addition, the focus on interior decoration has been on sustainability with the aim of making Marski the most environmentally friendly hotel in Finland.
Comforta and Lindström provide and maintain hotel room and restaurant textiles, chefs’ workwear as well as the design mats of the entrance and lobby areas. General Manager Jouko Puranen says he is satisfied with the long-term cooperation.
Sustainability shows in material selections
The focus in Marski has been on the quality and durability of textiles. ”Textiles create strong images and must be of high quality and feel luxurious. We want to make every hotel guest feel like he/she is the first person to stay in the room, ”says Puranen. Bed linens in the hotel rooms are made of ecological fibre, which makes them soft and durable. In addition, textile maintenance is more energy-efficient than usual.
The textiles in the restaurant also convey the importance of sustainability in Marski – napkins are made of recycled material containing plastic bottles. One whole plastic bottle has been used to make each napkin.
Textiles support the look of the hotel and restaurant
It is important in Marski that restaurant workwear is stylish and the kitchen staff feel comfortable in them. ”The fact that employees are proud of their workwear is important for the company image, ”says Puranen. The kitchen staff also work in the dining hall, so it is important that the workwear match the hotel’s look. ”The workwear is elegant and their golden embroidery suits the look of the hotel and restaurant, ”says Puranen.
Marski’s image is also conveyed to guests at the hotel entrance where they are welcomed by impressive design mats. The mats are designed according to Marski’s graphic look and their colours have been sought from the hotel’s colour scheme. ”The mats on the front door play an important role in giving the first impression of the hotel, as guests will see them first, ”says Puranen.
